Background
Nonlinear fiber optics is the key for high capacity communication networks in the future. To avoid physical aspects like spontaneous emission of optical amplifier and optical/electric devices noise we have to increase power of radiation. It leads us to different nonlinear effects appearing in fiber: Kerr nonlinearity, Raman and Brillouin scattering etc. Efficient modelling of this effects and creating low complexity compensation techniques of produced distortions allow to overcome current network restrictions and follow the trend of Moore`s law.
Responsibilities:
• Research of fiber and optical devices nonlinear models. Creating of efficient compensation techniques and its verification in simulation and experiments.
• Searching for the insights in academicals sources covering such fields as applied mathematics, nonlinear optimization, nonlinear optics etc.
• Working and communicating effectively in cross-function team and cooperate with academic / industrial partner.
Required qualifications:
• Familiarity with theoretical aspects of nonlinear distortions appearing in optical fibers and devices like Mach-Zehnder modulator, optical hybrid, TIA etc.
• Familiarity with python/Matlab/C++.
• Familiarity with linear algebra, differential equations, spectral analysis, theory of complex variable, mathematical physics
• Fluency in spoken and written English
Desired qualifications:
• PhD/Master degree in Physics/Engineering.
• Familiarity with Manakov system solution techniques or similar dynamic system like nonlinear KdV, sin-Gordon etc.
• Familiarity with optical equipment like modulators, lasers, optical amplifiers.
• Familiarity with communication system or communication digital signal processing algorithms fiber optics telecommunication.
• Familiarity with conventional or machine learning based optimization algorithm.
