Develop Yandex Market’s long-term new business strategy based on an analysis of key markets, competitor developments, technological change, and long-term customer trends Identify, develop, and substantiate new growth opportunities by entering new or adjacent industries.

Assess new technologies, products, and services, delivering analytically rigorous and data-driven insights that allow the senior management team to make strategic decisions.

Responsibilities:

run analysis of new markets, competitor development, technological change, and changing customer preferences, serving as an input for and foundation of Yandex Market’s long-term corporate strategy;
analyze and research new areas for growth that will shape strategic and policy decision-making by the senior management team;
leverage appropriate business and modelling tools to provide high-quality research and present well thought-out recommendations to audiences at all levels;
appropriately research and analyze internal and external sources to ensure that strategy and new business entry recommendations are based on information of the highest quality;
stay up to date with developments in e-commerce and adjacent sectors;
partner with cross-functional teams to build new business opportunities from concept to the business plan stage;
work collaboratively with colleagues from the Strategy & Business Development department, establish effective working relationships to produce joint recommendations on policies, strategic issues, and new initiatives;
provide ad-hoc support to the heads of Strategy and Business Development as well as members of the Senior Management team.

Required experience:

master’s or graduate degree in general management, economics, MBA (strongly preferred);
professional certification, e.g., CFA (preferred);
5+ years of experience in strategy, business development, or finance, due diligence experience (the latter strongly preferred);
professional experience gained through a combination of work at a professional services firm (investment bank, consulting firm, etc.) and strategy or business development work in the industry;
problem solving: proven ability to translate creative ideas into practical reality;
strategic thinking: ability to evaluate complex strategic and policy issues with clear analysis and judgement;
excellent analytical and quantitative skills, experience in Microsoft Excel modeling;
excellent oral and written communication skills, including mastery of Microsoft PowerPoint;
solid understanding of data requirements and information sources.
