Medical Science Liaison (Oncology Pipeline)

The MSL role provides non-promotional medical support, helping ensure the safe and effective use of GSK Oncology medicines, by creating effective scientific interactions with Healthcare Professionals and professional associations. Through deep expertise and strong external interactions, the MSL plays a critical role in gathering insights which support the development and execution of innovative medical affairs scientific strategies and plans.

As Field Based Oncology Medical Science Liaison you will be responsible for leadership of the external engagement design & implementation strategy aligned to the Oncology portfolio, driving a consistent approach to carry out field-activities for Oncology pipeline.

Main responsibilities:

Identify therapy area experts and leaders (EEs and potential advocates) and Professional, Academic & Patient groups.
Educate/update cross functional internal teams on scientific data of Oncology molecules (as appropriate)
Put in place and execute an agreed external engagement & advocacy plan, which includes National Professional Bodies and individual External Experts (EE)
Deliver scientific communication within the pre-launch activities plan
Support Oncology Lead to interact with internal stakeholders including global franchise, R&D, National & Regional management teams in driving external engagement & advocacy plans, by engaging the external expert community as required.
Design & drive/support implementation of appropriate educational meetings, advisory boards, & scientific workshops
Support Clinical Operation team to identify and engage EE Centers in clinical trials participation
In conjunction with other functions co-create the Congress Plan strategy
Contribute to the strategic insights gathering from the EEs’ community
Support ‘critical issues management’ plans, working with head office and field-based leads to diagnose, plan and implement necessary actions.
Ensure ethical engagement of Healthcare Professionals to guarantee that relevant company policies are followed.

Skills and requirements:

Advanced post graduate scientific degree required (MD, PhD, Pharm D). Specialty in Oncology is preferred.
Fluent written and spoken English besides native language
Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with EEs at a peer-to-peer level.
Demonstrable thirst for knowledge and ability to assimilate knowledge quickly
Able to present clinical data clearly and concisely and discuss the statistical and clinical relevance of such data
Good understanding of the clinical trials process and the ability to critique scientific publications
Ability to work autonomously without close supervision in a field-based setting
Able to work collaboratively, cross-functionally.
Professional, ethical, ensuring compliance at all times.
Experience in Oncology therapy area is necessary (at least 4 years).
Strong ability to apply and leverage scientific and medical knowledge while demonstrating scientific credibility is essential
Ability to work independently and ability to travel throughout the assigned territory

Required qualifications

Minimum 4 years in Medical Affairs positions.
Experience with product launches.
Knowledge of local country regulations, guidelines, codes of practices.
Experience or training in Oncology.
Operational excellence: management skills, planning, prioritization, decision making, objective setting and plan execution.
Strong customer orientation; science-based, but good understanding of marketing needs; negotiation skills.
