Our client - International Company specialized in mining of copper and the development of new copper mining projects is looking for a Chief Resource Geologist to take the responsibility for modelling of geology and mineral resources and accompanying estimation of mineral resources in one of the top 10 undeveloped greenfield copper projects globally, located in the Far East region of Russia.

Strategic functions:

  • Oversight collation, validation & interpretation of all geological data used in generating and documenting accurate mineral resource models and estimates;
  • Coordinate and strategically guide Data Administration, Resource, and GKZ Compliance staff in producing JORC and Russian GKZ / Rosnedra compliant mineral resource models and estimates;
  • Ensure that the resource models and estimates are continually improved and reported to strict resources and reserve reporting standards (JORC & GKZ) and company required timelines;
  • Work with and represent to GKZ and Rosnedra panels all steps and methods resulting in the reporting of mineral resource estimates, as well as demonstrate compliance with agreed prior-conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for maintaining and updating resource and reserve estimates (GKZ and JORC);
  • Accountable for maintaining and updating geological models in line with JORC requirements for appropriate stages of development;
  • Accountable for successful translation of JORC to GKZ compliant resource models and reserve estimates;
  • Ensure field geologists, consultants, mine engineers, hydrologists, geotechnical and metallurgical specialists provide input into and collaborate on geological models and key deliverables;
  • Participate and advise in the design of exploration programs in the Project's region, with key input on impact to resource and reserve growth as well as confidence in geological models;
  • At all times maintain compliance with the Australian Joint Ore Reserve Committee (JORC) and Russian Government Reserves Commission (GKZ) guidelines in relation to all aspects of data acquisition, estimation and reporting of mineral resources and reserves;
  • Ensure up-to-date lithological, structural and mineralization interpretations are incorporated into resource block models, sections, plans and presentation graphics;
  • Identify and implement structural, lithological, geotechnical, metallurgical and mineralization characteristics required to upgrade resource estimates and facilitate the conversion of resources to reserves;
  • Ensure completion of accurate and timely 3D resource block models, resource estimates and reports when and as required;
  • Ensure resource estimates are supported by adequate QAQC;
  • On start of mining, reconcile production and milling performance to resource and reserve models;
  • Meticulously test, reconcile and document changes to resource calculation parameters and methods;
  • Oversight and assist in the routine creation of Grade Control 3D block models on start of production;
  • Provide guidance in generation and prioritisation of development drilling programs for resource expansion and reserve conversion;
  • Provide technical input into the Life of Mine Plan (LOM), desktop and feasibility studies;
  • Ensure data and documentation required to support and validate resource estimates is available digitally and in hardcopy, with data well organised, easy to reference, and catalogued;
  • Facilitate training and development of Geology staff in the areas of geostatistics, resource modelling, estimation, resource and reserve economics.

Requirements:

  • Minimum university degree in Geology or Geological Engineering (BSc, BAppSc, BGeoEng);
  • +10 years of experience in exploration and or production geology focused on porphyry and epithermal copper-gold, copper and gold deposits;
  • Minimum 5 of 10 years' experience includes responsibility for resource modelling, estimation and reporting;
  • Completion of mining industry recognized and certified training (in-house or external) in resource modelling, estimation and geostatistics;
  • Practical application of geostatistics and statistical techniques for spatial analysis of data;
  • Proficiency in Surpac, Micromine, or equivalent modelling and estimation software;
  • Proficiency in Leapfrog software for Geological Modelling;
  • Proficiency in use of geostatistical software e.g. Isatis or Visor;
  • Resource estimation ‘Competent Person’ accreditation or ability to obtain;
  • Practical knowledge and experience completing GKZ, CRIRSCO and JORC resource and reserve compliant estimates and evaluations;
  • Experience in project Management;
  • Bilingual Russian & English – reading, writing and spoken;
  • Effective communication skills - verbal and written both internally and externally;
  • Physically able to work in remote locations.

Conditions:

  • Permanent contract according to Russian Labour Code;
  • Salary upon interview results;
  • Based in Moscow office but required to travel to project and other locations.
